Karl Kumbier
Capitec Business Banking Executive | Capitec
Karl Kumbier is the Executive for Business Banking at Capitec, where he leads the strategic growth and development of Capitec Business – a division dedicated to serving entrepreneurs of all sizes with smart, accessible banking solutions.
With over two decades of experience in financial services, Karl has held senior leadership roles across the continent. Prior to joining Capitec, he spent ten years at Standard Bank in positions including Provincial Director for Retail and Business Banking in the Western Cape, and Chief Operating Officer at Stanbic Bank Ghana.
In 2010, Karl joined Mercantile Bank as Executive Director and was appointed CEO in 2013. Under his leadership, the bank doubled in size by 2017. He played a pivotal role in the 2019 sale of Mercantile to Capitec and subsequently led its successful integration. In 2023, the business was rebranded as Capitec Business.
Karl is passionate about helping South African businesses grow through innovative, client-focused banking.
